About our strimming & weed removal
There is a stage before a garden is genuinely overgrown where it just looks abandoned: the grass is knee-high and seeding, weeds have come up through the block paving, and the edges have vanished. A mower will not touch it, but it does not need a full clearance either. It needs brush cutting.
We use professional brush cutters rather than domestic strimmers, which is the difference between cutting long wet grass and simply wrapping it round the head. That lets us take a plot from knee-high down to a mowable height in one pass, then tidy the edges so the shape of the garden reads properly again.
The second half of the job is the hard surfaces. Weeds in paths, drives, gravel and paving joints are what make a garden look neglected even after the grass is cut, so we clear them out — mechanically where they are established, by hand where they are near planting you want to keep.

Check what is under the grass
Long grass hides bricks, wire, dog bowls and the occasional garden gnome, all of which become projectiles. We walk the plot before cutting.

Cut in stages
Very long growth is taken down in two passes rather than one, which gives a cleaner finish and avoids leaving thick windrows of wet grass smothering what is underneath.
- 03
Edges and hard surfaces
Borders, paths and fence lines get edged, then paving, gravel and joints are cleared of weed. This is the part that makes the difference visually.
- 04
Collect, remove, hand back mowable
Cuttings are raked up and taken away, and you are left with a plot a domestic mower can handle from that point on.

We take it down to roughly mowable height rather than scalping it. Cutting very long grass straight to lawn length damages the sward and leaves it yellow and patchy. If you want a proper lawn finish, we knock it down, let it recover for a week or two, then mow.
Only if you ask us to, and we will discuss it with you first — particularly if you have pets, children or planting nearby. Our default is mechanical and hand removal, which is immediate and avoids chemicals entirely.
Some will, because seed blows in and settles in joints. Re-sanding block paving after clearing slows it considerably, and it is a job worth repeating annually rather than letting it re-establish.
Absolutely — most strimming jobs are one-offs. If you would rather not do the upkeep yourself afterwards, we can move you onto a maintenance visit instead.
